The nature of life is evolution.
While change is constant, our perception is slow to adapt. As humans develop, we become more complex. This development is inspired by connection. From the moment we were born, our connection to life, every interaction and experience, has informed our understanding of life itself. At some point in our mental development, generally around 7ish, our minds develop the ability to derive meaning from these connections. We essentially become meaning-making machines. This meaning-making leads to perspectives, then judgments, then behaviors, which become our personality. The longer we identify with these perspectives and judgments, our behaviors become more rigid, as does our personality.
Man's search for meaning.
It's an obsession, and it's killing us. We believe that understanding leads to safety, yet it's a delusion that erodes our ability to reach that which we're seeking... safety. So why do we do it? As we experience life with our five senses, we feel things. Alongside these feelings, our minds develop to process these feelings, or sensory information. We begin to prefer some feelings and avoid others. This is simple pattern recognition. If we touch the grill, we will get burned. So we learn how to behave in order to survive. Unfortunately, this does not lead to safety, thus blocking our ability to thrive.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
We have become hard and thus fragile, which is dangerous. Our obsession with feeling safe means that we are living in a collective, and thus normalized, fear state. We don't see it because it's all around us. And we are a product of our environment. This fear, which is strictly a product of the mind, leads to stress. And stress kills. It leads to stagnation, disease, and general disconnection from the flow of life. Our bodies and minds begin to mutate, a process of entropy. Disorder and chaos ensue, leading to breakdown—fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. We see it all around us, and we begin to model this behavior as social creatures with social networks wired into our brains. This decay ultimately leads to death, on an individual (as humans) and collective level (as culture, organizations, and governments).
As within, so without.
The mind deteriorates, as does its connection to the body and spirit. Our psychology and our mental health dictate our physical health, as individuals and as a species. This erosion process creates space for new growth. This is the process of syntropy. From breakdown comes breakthrough. We either evolve or die. Hardwired for survival, humans tend towards evolution. Within the chaos, the mind begins to collapse upon itself. The amygdala fires, shutting down thinking processes to create space for the survival instinct to kick in. A sense of calm washes over, and somehow we know exactly what to do... reconnect to life... for it is the only thing that will keep us alive.
Presence is the destination.
Fear is safe, as it guides us to exactly where we need to go. As we release our bodies into the fear, we are guided into connection. This is the source of unconditional safety. Everything we have ever and will ever need has always been here, yet our minds will try to convince us otherwise every time. That's why the body shuts down the mind in the face of true danger. When the lion is chasing us down, the mind is our enemy. We must flow, as our intuition knows exactly where to go.
The future is bright.
Life is guiding us toward connection. While we may perceive separation, we know that on a cellular level, we are simply energy in motion. We are life, and life is us. It is always in motion, always flowing, and always evolving. It is in our genetic makeup to move and evolve with the flow of life. And the journey begins with acceptance, to understand that we are part of an unfolding process, and everything is perfect in that it is informing our evolution. When we arrive at this felt perception of perfection, all judgment falls away, and presence emerges within our experience. Everything begins to flow with grace and ease because we enter into the flow of life without any mental attachment to thought forms about the future. As there will always be light, thanks to the sun, the future will definitely be bright.
Let's celebrate!
